For this week’s blog, I will write a review on “The Wolverine”, a movie I recently watched, starring Hugh Jackman. The movie was about Logan (Hugh Jackman) who fights his enemy in a battle that’s in Japan. For the first time, Logan fights a deadly Samurai made of steel and his battle against his eternal life; a battle to change him forever. I would rate this movie 4 stars. I really enjoyed this movie.
I gave this movie 4 stars because I liked the story line. In the beginning, a nuclear bomb was about to strike Japan. Every soldier had to kill themselves by stabbing a sword in their chest. The soldiers had to do this because they were going to die anyway and they felt they dishonored/ failed their country. In Japan, this is called Harakiri. All the soldiers killed themselves except for one. That soldier was Yashida. Right when the bomb struck, Logan told him to run into the underground well. Because Logan can’t die, he covered and protected Yashida. Yashida was very grateful, so he wanted to give Logan his sword in return. Logan said “no”, but he would get it from him later. After many years, Yashida sent Yukio to find Logan so he could give him the sword; but that’s not the only reason Yashida wanted him. Yashida was dying. So, he wanted Logan to give up his power of eternal life but Logan said “NO.” So, Yashida did everything he could to get his power.
Another reason I gave this movie 4 stars isbecause the movie had a lot of action. I enjoyed the fighting scenes, when the ninjas fought. I also liked when Logan fought and defeated Yashida and the steel Samurai.
The last reason why I would give this movie 4 stars is because in the end, there was a happy ending. Logan saved and protected Mariko from her evil grandfather. Logan also got the bug out of his heart by cutting his chest open and pulling the bug out with his hand.
The only thing I didn’t like about the movie is that they skipped from different times (past and present) which made the movie a little confusing. An example of that is when Logan got a bug stuck in his heart. It was difficult to know how, when, and what happened, and what the bug did. For the people who may not have seen the X-men movies, it may have been confusing to know that Logan is a mutant and can’t die. He also has three metal claws that come out of his hands.
In conclusion, this movie had minor flaws but overall, it was awesome. I hope you will be able to watch “The Wolverine.” I also hope you liked my blog. Until next time, goodbye.
