For this week’s blog, I will provide some advice for next year’s media students; both returnees and newbie’s. The advice is to cooperate with your partner, not procrastinate, and be sure to sign equipment in and out. The first piece of advice I’d like to share, is to cooperate with your partner. Mr. Matsunaga assigns every student with a partner. In the first two quarters of the year, students will work with their partner to create a news story. It is very important to cooperate with your partner because they are the ones who will be mentoring and helping you get through the media class successfully. Be sure to ask a lot of questions, listen, keep up with your work, and pay attention in class! You can’t sit around doing nothing while your partner does all the work. For the returnees, we need to help the new students understand the things that need to be done in class. We also have to be GREAT role models and lead the new students in the right path. With our help and guidance, our partners will become successful students.
The second piece of advice is to not procrastinate! This is very important because procrastinating makes things very difficult. For example, some students procrastinated on their 4th Quarter projects. As a result, these students are paying the price by turning their projects in late which may have an effect on their grade. My partner and I may have procrastinated on our 2nd Quarter project. We had no choice, but to turn it in late!
The third piece of advice is to sign equipment in and out. We are so blessed and fortunate to have equipment to use for class. Mr. M needs to know the whereabouts of each piece of equipment because it’s expensive and difficult to replace. He also needs to know who has the equipment. If anything were to be lost, not only would Mr. M be upset, but the class would have less equipment to use. This is the main purpose we have a sign in/out sheet.
This advice is very important for your future in the media class. I hope you learned a few things and enjoyed my blog. Until next time, bye!
