The class and I went on an afterschool excursion to the county building on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. We were invited to the county building to be recognized for the awards we received on the STN trip. Some of these awards include Spot Feature, Music Video, Anchoring, PSA, and Sweet 16 Broadcast. The class spoke to the members of the County of Kauai and told them what the film was about. The best part of this was being on TV! It was a true honor to be invited and recognized for our work.
Kelli and I finally got our scripts approved for our short film. Since it was approved, we started filming on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Lydgate Park from 11:00am-6:30pm. We shot approximately half the film from the “Call that Changed it All, the Agents Return.” The people who acted in our film included Halle, Ben, Dalson, Brooke, Micah, Kelli, and I. Dalson, Brooke, Ben, Micah, and Kelli are agents, but Halle and I are the evil enemies. It was a very hectic and tiring day!
I’d like to thank Uncle Dean (Kelli’s father) my mother (Sheri), and my brother for keeping an eye on us and for being extremely patient. I truly appreciate it! I’d also like to thank the actors for being a part of the film and for taking your time on your Good Friday Holiday to help Kelli and I! I wish everyone else in the class good luck on your project! Best and Worse Blog
For this week’s blog, I will write three best and three worse parts about the STN trip. The three worse parts of the trip were; having to wait in the long lines for rides, falling behind with my blogs, and having to work with students that were grumpy, stressed, and tired during the STN competition. The three best things about the trip were riding the rides at parks, getting to know my classmates better, and placing in the competition. One of the worse parts of the trip was waiting in long lines to ride the rides at the different parks we visited. Since the lines took so long, I decided to be productive and do my blogs while waiting. It was worth it because the rides were really fun and scary! This was one of the best parts of the trip! I went on almost all of them! It was a benefit because while waiting in the long lines, I got to know my classmates better. This was the second best part of the trip. The second worse part of the trip was falling behind with my blogs. It was very hard for me to keep up because the class and I spent all day at parks and at the STN convention. We ended up sleeping around 12:00-1:00am. I needed to finish my blogs whenever I had free time. It was discouraging because the class would be done with their blogs except me. The third worse thing that happened on the trip was having to work with people that were grumpy, stressed, and tired during the competition. This was frustrating because the competition was hard enough, and with the student’s behavior, it made it even harder. Even though it was tough, it was all worth it because most of the teams in the class placed in the competition. This was the third best part of the trip. The spot feature team placed 1st, anchoring placed 2nd, the music video team placed, 2nd, the broadcast team placed 2nd, and the PSA team placed honorable mention. Overall, the trip had its ups and downs, but I’m just grateful for experiencing the trip. I hope you enjoyed my blog. Until next time, goodbye! For this week’s blog, I will write about the most valuable lessons (MVL) I’ve learned from the recent trip to Florida. Three MVL’s I gained is to spend your money wisely, to walk together with the class (no gaps), and not to leave valuable personal belongings in a car with no one in it!
The first MVL I learned on the trip is to not spend all of your money to buy things you don’t really need because you will be wasting it on something you won’t use. This will leave you out of cash before the trip ends. If this happens, you won’t have enough money to buy the items you really want and the things that seem more interesting. The second MVL I learned was to stay all together and have no gaps between us. At Disney World, we needed to stay ahead of other people and not wander off. Otherwise, we could have gotten lost and left behind. Staying together also made it easier for the chaperones and Mr. Matsunaga to keep an eye on us. The last MVL I learned is not to leave your valuable personal belongings in the car with no one in it, because thieves can steal them! During the trip, one of the chaperones left their backpack in the car with an ipad in it. While we were eating lunch, someone broke into one of our rental cars and stole the back pack. The weird thing about it, was that we were eating lunch for only a short period of time. Once we discovered the bag was gone, we noticed white finger prints on the side of the car, the dash board, and some blue paint on the car seat. We called the police while the rest of the class went to Gatorland. All of these lessons are very important because it will help for future trips. I hope you enjoyed my blog. Please comment and until next time, goodbye! 4th Quarter Projects #2
For those of you who read my previous blog about my 4th quarter project, I wanted to explain what our project is about. Kelli and I are doing a short film and a sequel to “The Call that Changed it All.” In the first film, Agent B (Brooke) recruited a guy by the name of Benji. Agent B and Agent K (Kelli) tested Benji’s abilities, to become a real agent. He passed, and his first assignment was to complete a mission. Our short film is called “The Call that Changed it All, the Agents Return.” The film is about agents of the International Intelligence Agency (I.I.A) who are scattered across the globe. In our film, the agents unite to complete a TOP SECRET MISSION that would save the I.I.A. from destruction. The evil mastermind, the “Pitts”, is planning to destroy the agency. She is big trouble, and because of her stench, she can wipe out a colony of citizens. If her stench gets to you, you will die in a matter of 17 minutes! There are many interesting twists in this film. Please wish Kelli and I good luck on our project! For this week’s blog, I will give some advice for next year’s students of the Chiefess Kamakahelei Television (CKTV) media class and for the Student Television Network (STN) competition. Recently, the CKTV class and I went to Orlando, Florida for the STN competition. The class was divided into six team including the Public Service Announcement, anchoring, movie trailer, music video, commercial, and spot feature team. For the Sweet 16 contest, the class was divided into to two groups; the broadcast and film team. I entered in the PSA and broadcast contests. My PSA group include Justice, Isabel, and Dalson.
The first piece of advice I would like to share is to turn things in on time and never be late, for anything such as attending a meeting or fundraiser. Even if your one minute late! This is very important because if you are late for anything, Mr. Matsunaga will get very upset. Not only will Mr. Matsunaga get upset, but it is a poor habit to have. If you turn things in late, you can get bad grades. When you get become an adult, being late to work can put your job on the line, and this will follow/ haunt you for the rest of your life. Another piece of advice I would like to share, is to work together as a CKTV Ohana. This is very important because we will need each other’s help throughout the year. If we treat each other nicely, it will be easier to cooperate with each other. We will become more respectful, mature, and kind people. Most importantly, we can make new friends and can learn a lot from them. This is very helpful at the STN competitions since we will be working together so closely. The last piece of advice I would like to share, is to participate in all the fundraisers to raise as much money for the STN trip! We need to have enough money for the air fare, food, and other activities. This advice is very important because it will guide you through your media career. I hope you learned something. Thanks for reading my blog. Until next time, bye! It’s the start of the fourth quarter! This means the class and I have projects to complete for media! It’s different than the other projects because this time, we get to choose our own media type, whether it’s a music video, Public Service Announcement (PSA), movie trailer, commercial, spot feature, or anchoring. We are also allowed to partner with anyone in the class.
I am currently working with Kelli Okayama. She is a seventh grader and is one of my best friends. We’re going to produce a short film. A short film is a video that can be at least five to ten minutes. We called it “The Call that Changed it all, the Agents Return.” It is a sequel to the Sweet 16 film practice video. Kelli and I are one of two groups that are doing a short film. The other short film group includes Brandon and Micah. I am very excited for this film! I know it will turn out great! This is day 2 in Orlando, Florida! So far, it has been a wonderful experience. Today, I got up at 8:30 a.m. I am currently in house 1 along with Aunty Shar, Uncle Glenn, Brooke, Brandon, Nicole, Alaysia, Ysabel, and Isabel Gampon. Uncle Glenn needed to wake everyone in our house up in the morning. After we all got ready, we headed to Aunty Lynda's house to eat breakfast. All the other people of the Chiefess Kamakahelei Television (CKTV) class ate at Aunty Lynda's house too. We didn't eat in our own homes, because Aunty Lynda's house is the closest and has more parking space. The breakfast was originally supposd to be held in our house because our house is the biggest, but is also the farthest and only has 4 parking spaces. After everyone finished eating, we headed to the Amway Center.
The class and I went to the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The Amway Center is a building where basketball, hockey, and concerts are played. The home team of the Amway Center for basketball is Orlando Magic. We went to the Amway Center for a tour. It was a wonderful experience and I learned a lot. After the tour, the class and I, went back home, but I went to Aunty Lynda's house to finish up my homework along with tne people in house 2 (Mr. Matsunaga's house). Later on other people from house 1 came. Aunty Charyl and Mr. Matsunaga went to different stores to get food, while Aunty Lynda and other chaperones cooked spaghetti for dinner. The CKTV class and I, were supposed to go to Down Town Disney, but it was too late to go. After dinner, we all went home to take a bath and to go to sleep. I hope everyone has a nice rest and until next time bye!!!! P.S. I miss you and LOVE you family! Stay safe and godbless. Yesterday, the Chiefess Kamakahelei Television (CKTV) class and I woke up at 2:00am to catch our flight to San Fransisco, then to LAX, and finally back to Kauai.
The CKTV class and I had to check in and go through the TSA check. The line was really long. After checking in and going throught the TSA check, we took the monorale to the gate. The airplane took off at 7:00am (Florida time). I slept for a few hours on that plane ride. We landed in San Fransisco at 9:47am (California time). The class and I left San Fransisco at 10:51am (California time) to LAX California. The flight was about one hour, so I decided to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and the begining of Frozen. We landed at 12:24pm in LAX (California time). The class and I bought/ate lunch, and boarded the plane. The next flight to Lihue, Kauai left at 2:00pm. The flight was about three hours. We landed in Kauai at 5:04pm (Kauai time). I was so happy to see my family, I cried! I hope you enjoyed my blog. Until next time, bye! Two days ago, the Chiefess Kamakahelei Television (CKTV) class and I spent the day at Magic Kingdom. We rode rides, bought some candy/ souvineers, then ate dinner at the "Friendly" resturaunt.
It was the day after the STN competition had finished. The CKTV class and I spent our last day of fun, at Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is one of the parks in Disney World. We rode some rides, the class and I ate lunch. I shared a turkey leg with Halle and Kelli. After riding the rides, the class and I went shopping. I bought candy for my family and friends. I also bought Disney pajamas for my mom. When we got what we wanted, we headed back to the hotel to drop everything off and freshen up. The class and I ate at a resturaunt called Friendly. After dinner, we went back to the hotel to sleep and get ready for the next day. The next morning, the CKTV class and I had to get up at 2:00am for the flight back to Kauai! I hope you all enjoyed my blog. Until next time, bye! |
